We’re putting together plans for our upcoming
2008 WYSO season, and looking forward to a successful year. So, we
want you to be aware of some important dates to remember.
WYSO offers a variety of softball opportunities to softball players
from the beginner to the advanced. Our In-House recreation program is
available for girls in grades kindergarten to 8th grade. In addition, we
have the Winfield “Sting” travel teams that compete in the Central
Maryland League. And lastly, we offer elite softball players the
opportunity to compete at the highest level of softball in the
Mid-Atlantic area. Below is information on WYSO’s three softball
programs with contact information for each level of play. If you’re
interested in having your daughter play softball, please contact the
program coordinator listed below.
If you have any questions about the WYSO softball programs or would
like to discuss, please contact me at 410-549-0118 or at
beaneteam@aol.com.
Thanks,
Edwin G. Beane Sr.

Maryland STARS Girls Fast Pitch Softball
Program
The Maryland STARS (select travel portion of the Winfield Youth Softball
Organization) is looking for players for their 10U, and 18U teams for the
2008.
The
Stars program has teams at 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U and Over 18, a total of
8 teams this coming (2008) season.
Multiple Stars teams finished in the top three of the state championships
and had top 10 finishes in National events.
The Stars provide clinics (pitching, catching, fielding and hitting) with
experts in their field and trained coaching. All head coaches must attend a
coaches’ clinic annually. Each team plays 8-12 tournaments per season,
mostly local, and provides an opportunity for players to play with the best
players in the area against the best teams in the area.
The Stars typically have tryouts in August,
but keep some roster openings for players who find out about the Stars after
tryouts. Again the 10U and 18U teams have openings for the 2008 season.
Please contact us now about these openings.
Many Stars players have gone on to play college softball and all excel at
the high school level with most making the varsity team as freshmen and then
proceeding to being selected as all-county and/or all-conference all-stars.
The Stars program offers college scholarships to players completing their
senior year in high school and who meet other criteria.
Please see the STARS web site,
www.marylandSTARS.org or contact Glen Warholic,
gawarho@marylandSTARS.org ,
410-552-1838 for more information.
