Gary Davis called the meeting to order. The minutes from 4/23/01 were accepted, with a note to correct the date on the minutes from March to April.
Jeff Degitz: (1) Brought and showed an HBO video on Disorder in Youth Sports.
Is checking into a more wide-spread audience for a Code of Ethics/Conduct. Ideally to have each parent sign an ethics agreement when registering, especially in order to have something in place if problems occur. County hopes to have a draft by Fall 2001.
(2) Gary asked if county will follow up on "No Smoking" signs for the park? County wants to get info out via forms rather than signs at this time.
Soccer: (1) Registration is finished unless they decide to hold one more.
(2) County is aware of damaged goals. Self-help funds can be used to help replace goals (co. pays 75%, council pays 25%) but won't be available until late fall. Jeff will follow-up on company that may be able to repair goals in the meantime.
(3) Concern about field use at Linton. There are two fields, one designated for Winfield, one for Freedom. Freedom doesn't appear to be using theirs. A meeting is scheduled to discuss this issue, but Jeff advised to go ahead and use both fields if needed temporarily.
(4) Sports Medicine Rehab is holding a clinic to teach how to address injuries. Coaches are encouraged to attend.
Treasurer: (1) Need $2/reg. from Baseball. Gary asked that a call be made to Baseball to request.
Webmaster: (1) Council agrees that the website is running well; everyone likes getting minutes via e-mail. Dave is always looking for more email addresses. Any correspondence sent out should include website address. A suggestion was made to include space for email addresses on registration forms.
Coordinator: (1) Gave details re: capital projects requirements (5 yr. plan). Gary is passing it on to Jean Shea.
(2) If any board of the council wants to amend by-laws, they have to run it by the county first.
(3) HS coach is doing field hockey program for 8th-9th graders in July.
Wrestling: (1)Everything going well.
Baseball: No representative
Softball: (1) Program up and running well.
(2) Tournament this past weekend; Softball appreciates the support received from Baseball when tournaments are played.
President: (1) Edward Zynda remodeled Mayeski building as an Eagle Scout project. Council approves of the work and appreciates it.
Next Meeting – June 25, 2001 @ Mayeski Park Pavilion @ 7pm.
